Morgellons Disease – natural relief

Being dismissed as hysterical, a hypochondriac or having some kind of psychosis; people living with fibromyalgia have had to endure this unprofessional treatment. Other disorders, too, have caused their victims to be subject to the same type of maltreatment— Morgellons being one of these.

Morgellons emerged when a South Carolina mother was researching the symptoms of her young son in 2001. She found a reference to a 1674 medical study in France that described a similar condition in a group of people called Morgellons.

The Morgellons Research Foundation began accepting registrations from people with symptoms in 2002. Their mission is to research “an emerging infectious disease”.

Most who think they may have it are told that they suffer from a psychiatric disorder called delusional parasitosis, where patients mistakenly believe that they are infested with a skin parasite. They often refuse to accept it when their doctors say thay are not and are thought to have a mental defect instead – Sound familiar?

Many of the symptoms are similar to fibromyalgia except the sufferers report strange, fiber-like material sticking out of sores or wounds that erupt on their skin.

Other symptoms include:

  •  Unpleasant skin sensations
  •  Feeling like bugs are crawling over the skin
  •  Burning or stinging sensations under the skin
  •  Intense itching
  •  Skin sores that appear suddenly and heal slowly
  •  Sores that leave very red hyperpigmented scars

Some people with Morgellons may also complain about symptoms similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, such as:

  •  Joint and Muscle pain
  •  Nervous system problems
  •  Tooth loss
  •  Sleep problems
  •  Short-term memory loss
  •  Gastro-intestinal problems
  •  Increased likelihood of obsessive-compulsive thoughts and behaviors
  •  Difficulty paying attention and concentrating
  •  Extreme fatigue
  •  Hair loss, thinning of the hair

Fibers oozing from Skin

The skin of Morgellons victims oozes mysterious strands that have been identified as cellulose (which cannot be manufactured by the human body), and people have the sensation of things crawling beneath their skin.

Morgellons Fiber

When pharmacologist Randy Wymore offered to study some of these fibers, he discovered that “fibers from different people looked remarkably similar to each other and yet seemed to match no common environmental fibers.”

When they took them to a police forensic team, they said they were not from clothing, carpets, or bedding. They have no idea what they are.

Researcher Ahmed Kilani says he was able to break down two fiber samples and extract their DNA. He found that they belonged to a fungus!

One theory is “chemtrails”. Conspiracy theorists have renamed contrails, which are vapor trails from jet engines, “chemtrails”, under the suspicion that the government is taking advantage of this scientific phenomenon to secretly release other substances into the atmosphere. They claim that there is a strong similarity of Morgellons disease fibers to those found in man-made chemtrails.

Randall Martin, an atmospheric scientist at Dalhousie University, offers two reasons that suggest this conspiracy is nothing more than hot air.

First, he points out that adding a payload of chemicals to a jetliner costs money, “which would certainly undermine profitability.”

Most importantly, Martin stresses that scientists like him are very interested in what’s in the atmosphere. “I’m involved in a large number of experiments,” he said. “We measure the suite of pollutants in the atmosphere down to the trillionth of a millimeter. If an aircraft were intentionally polluting, we would notice it.”

Is Morgellons caused by Lyme Disease?

Some physicians are suggesting that Morgellons is an unusual morphing of Lyme disease. This is a revolutionary connection, presenting a differential diagnosis, and could de-stigmatize the current delusionary assessment of Morgellons, the debilitating disease.

The latest research, indicates a surprising link according to the paper published in January 28, 2013 by Peter Mayne of Australia (principal author). He found that Borrelia Spirochetes was found in the skin lesions of Morgellons victims. Surprisingly this bacteria, has also been associated with Lyme disease. In fact, this research paper, suggests changing the name of Morgellons disease, to Borrelial Dermatitis.

The belief is that Morgellons disease is not a primary or secondary infestation caused from springtails, centipedes, flies, worms, scabies, bird mites or even ants etc.

It is small micro-fibers which appear on the skin with Lyme disease being present already, perhaps from a previous tick bite, or even been transmitted by a fungus-like pathogen (still called Morgellons) with hyphae-like fibers or threads which is able to penetrate the skin by its proteolytic enzymes!

The GMO Connection

What is most disturbing—evidence has been found suggesting a strong relationship between Morgellons disease and the GMO revolution.

Since the Clinton Administration made biotechnology “a strategic priority for U.S. government backing”, giant transnational agri-business concerns have aggressively taken over the global food chain by flooding it with Genetically Modified Organisms.

An article published by Whitley Strieber on October 12, 2007, titled “Skin Disease May Be Linked to GM Food”, concludes that the fibers taken from a Morgellons sufferer contain the same substance that is “used commercially to produce genetically-modified plants.”Non GMO project label and USDA Organic Label copy

Biochemist Vitaly Citovsky discovered that the fibers contain a substance called “Agrobacterium”, which accornding to New Scientist, is “used commercially to produce genetically-modified plants.”

When affected areas are viewed under a microscope, many patients have clusters of multi-colored fibers beneath unbroken skin. These fibers may or may not be visible to the naked eye.

The fibers have been tested in labs and will not burn until they reach 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit and are covered in some sort of high-density polyurethane.

Individualized Treatment Recommended for Morgellons Patients

Currently, because the disease is still in its infancy and has not been properly investigated, there is no “standard of care” for treating patients with Morgellons symptoms. Each patient’s treatment should be based upon an individual treatment protocol devised by the patient’s physician taking into account both lab and clinical findings. As with Fibromyalgia, it is important to note that a “cookbook” approach to treatment is NOT advisable.

According to the Morgellons Research Foundation, there are well over 15,000 self-identified sufferers from 15 countries including the US (all 50 states), Canada, the UK, Australia, South Africa, and the Netherlands. In the US, most cases are reported from California, followed by Texas and Florida. The numbers are rising, not declining.

According to a 2006 publication by V. Savely, M. Leitao, and R. Striker, in the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, the following statement was made:
…“Many patients with Morgellons Disease have positive Western Blots for Borrelia Burgdorferi, the causative agent in Lyme Disease”…

In another recent publication in 2007, Dr. William Harvey, the Chairman of the Morgellons Research Foundation, wrote a letter to the editor of the American Academy of Dermatology making the following statement:
… “To anyone willing to look and listen, all patients with Morgellons carry elevated laboratory proinflammatory markers, elevated insulin levels, and verifiable serologic evidence of 3 bacterial pathogens. They also show easily found physical markers such as peripheral neuropathy, delayed capillary refill, abnormal Romberg’s sign, decreased body temperature, and tachycardia. Most importantly they will improve, and most recover on antibiotics directed at the above pathogens”…

Also implicated is Chlamydia Pneumonia (Cpn,) a tiny, intracellular, parasitic bacteria that invades the body’s cells and steals the cell’s energy making the cell lose all functionality. Variations of the Vanderbilt University Therapy of Chronic Chlamydial Infections have been prescribed by physicians treating Morgellons and are helping some patients improve.

Our First Defense

Our first line of defense, as with all dis-eases of the body, is to support our immune system, keeping it strong, enabling it to do what it is meant to do—defend, protect and heal the body—wellness starts from within, in our digestive tract.

Because most of our immune system is located in the digestive system, an “organ within an organ”, we need to empower the immune system by making healthy choices, such as removing processed foods and refined sugars from our diet. We need to incorporate exercise into our daily routine, and to do our best to get adequate rest.

Natural Solutions for strengthening the Immune System

You improve your basic foundation by rebuilding intestinal flora, with a high quality Probiotic, supporting the body with digestive enzymes and vital nutrients.

Because Morgellons disease as with other disorders, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, may be traced to environmental toxins, it is vitally important to rid the body of unwanted invaders.

Algae, because of it’s nutritional properties is a proven detoxifying agent.  As Hippocrates said. “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.

More Immune System Support – MSM Sulfur

Sulfur has germicidal, fungicidal, parasiticidal qualities and may aid in treating micro-organisms. It has been shown to assist in removing toxins from the blood and lymphatic system!

Some doctor may prescribe Bactrim, which is a sulfa drug, when treating Morgellons disease. But, many patients may be allergic to sulfa drugs and would need a natural alternative.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is also great for the immune system! Coconut oil strengthens the immune system because it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.

The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which research has supported as an effective way to deal with viruses and bacteria that cause disease.
